The detail
A privately-owned Jacobean manor house in deepest Cotswold country, largely unchanged since AD715. Weddings centre on the magnificent 14th-century Tithe Barn — a dry hire stone barn set amid acres of lawn, a duck pond, yellow-stone cottages and unspoilt parkland. Guests are treated to a display from the world's tallest gravity fountain (300 feet) during the afternoon reception. The gatehouse and formal water garden provide extraordinary photography backdrops.
Planners notes:
One of my favourite venues in the Cotswolds — and one of the least known outside the region. A Jacobean manor in unspoilt countryside with a medieval Tithe Barn, duck pond, Cotswold stone cottages and a 300-foot gravity fountain that fires during the afternoon. The dry hire model gives couples complete creative freedom and the absence of on-site accommodation actually enhances the house-party atmosphere. The ceremony usually takes place at St Peter's Church, which is literally on the estate — stepping out into the parkland for the reception feels genuinely cinematic. Underpriced for what it is. Book before the rest of the market catches up.
